1 Introduction
Welcome to GazeWell ("we," "our," or "us"). GazeWell is a mobile application developed by Veeresh Kumbar that helps parents track their baby's growth, milestones, and development, and includes an innovative camera-based infant vision simulator.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use the GazeWell mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly.
By downloading, installing, or using GazeWell, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please do not use our App.
2 Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information to provide and improve our services:
2.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Phone number (used for authentication via Firebase Authentication)
- Name and role (e.g., "Mom," "Dad," "Guardian") as entered during onboarding
- Age (optional, entered during onboarding)
2.2 Baby Information
To personalise your experience, we collect information about your baby:
- Baby's name (or nickname)
- Date of birth
- Baby's photo (optional, stored securely in Firebase Storage)
2.3 Growth and Milestone Data
As you use the App, you may enter:
- Growth measurements (weight, height, head circumference)
- Milestone achievements and dates
- Memory entries including photos, descriptions, and dates
This data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework and may be synced to Firebase Firestore for cloud backup.
2.4 Camera Data
GazeWell includes an Infant Vision Simulator that uses your device's camera to show you an approximation of how your baby sees the world at different ages.
2.5 Analytics and Crash Data
We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to improve the App:
- Firebase Analytics collects anonymous usage data such as app opens, feature usage frequency, and session duration
- Firebase Crashlytics collects crash logs, stack traces, and device information (model, OS version) when the App encounters an error
- All data is anonymised and cannot be used to personally identify you
- You can opt out of analytics data collection in your device settings
2.6 Device Information
We may automatically collect:
- Device type and model
- Operating system version
- App version
- Unique device identifiers (anonymised)
- Push notification tokens (if you enable notifications)
3 How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- Create and manage your account
- Provide personalised baby tracking features based on your baby's age
- Send push notifications about milestones, growth reminders, and weekly developmental updates (if enabled)
- Sync your data across devices via Firebase cloud services
- Diagnose technical issues and improve app stability via crash reports
- Understand usage patterns and improve the App's features
- Respond to your support inquiries
4 Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored using the following services:
- Local Storage: Growth entries, milestones, and memories are stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
- Cloud Storage: Account data, baby information, and optionally synced records are stored in Google Firebase (Firestore database and Firebase Storage for photos).
- These services are hosted on Google Cloud Platform, which maintains SOC 1, SOC 2, SOC 3, and ISO 27001 certifications.
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
- Secure Authentication with phone-based verification
- JWT token-based session management
- Regular security reviews of our codebase
5 Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Firebase Authentication: For secure phone number-based login (provided by Google)
- Firebase Firestore: For cloud data storage (provided by Google)
- Firebase Storage: For photo storage (provided by Google)
- Firebase Analytics: For anonymous usage analytics (provided by Google)
- Firebase Crashlytics: For crash reporting (provided by Google)

GazeWell does not share, sell, rent, or trade your personal information with any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
6 Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services.
- Account data is retained until you delete your account
- Growth, milestone, and memory data is retained until you delete specific entries or your account
- Photos are retained in Firebase Storage until you remove them or delete your account
- Analytics data is retained in anonymised form for up to 14 months
- Crash data is retained for up to 90 days
When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise all your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
7 Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data and account
- Data Export: Request an export of your data in a portable format (coming in a future update)
- Opt-Out: Disable push notifications through your device settings or the App's profile settings
- Withdraw Consent: You can stop using the App and request account deletion at any time

8 Children's Privacy
GazeWell is designed for parents and guardians to track their baby's development. The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The baby information entered in the App is provided by the parent or guardian, not by the child.
If we discover that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
9 International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, particularly to Google's data centres which may be located in the United States or other jurisdictions.
By using GazeWell, you consent to this transfer. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
10 Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:
- Posting the updated policy within the App
- Updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy
- Sending a push notification for material changes (if you have notifications enabled)
Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
